Tonnes of Ice Stored for GFDE

GFDE supply ice to the fish market and to fishing vessels. With combined help from Ziegra and Point, GFDE now make around 20 tonnes of ice per day which is stored in a 25 tonne capacity storage tank designed, built and installed by Point. Our system extracts the ice at a rate of around 12 tonnes/hour and conveys it to ice bins, vehicles or ships. The system, installed in 2003, has undergone modification and upgrade to cope with demands for more ice. The storage tank is 5m in diameter and 4m high. The ice is removed using a hydraulically driven planetary auger system and the ice is distributed via level and inclined belt conveyors - all built at Point.
